RYPEN or BUST!

Our club along with the Border City club have sponsored EIGHT youth to attend RYPEN.  Craig Tory from the Lloydminster Community Youth Centre organized the selection process and transportation.  They left first thing Thursday morning and are having a blast already I'm sure.  We look forward to hearing all about the weekend when they get back.

RYPEN is a five-day Rotary camp taking place May 19 - 23 at the Jasper Palisades Eductaion Centre that is created for young people who want to grow but have limited opportunities to attend other development programs. You will learn new things about yourself and the world around you. RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) is sponsored by Rotary International District 5370.

Lobsterfest = ANOTHER SUCCESS!
Congrats everyone on helping, supporting, or attending the 2016 edition of our Rotary Lobsterffest.  It was a complete success.  We sold roughly 700 tickets, we planted the seed of Rotary with those 700 guests, we had a blast, and we raised some money while doing it.  At this past Monday's meeting Jill did handed out the thank yous so I won't spend time repeating that.  You know who you are and we all thank you. Final numbers will be announced at one of the next meetings but money raised for just the Fort McMurray Fire Relief Fund (through our District) is roughly $4300.

Fort McMurray Fire Relief Fund

The Rotary District 5370 Charitable Foundation has established the “Fort McMurray Fire Relief Fund” to assist in the rebuilding of that city following this tragic fire.  The Charitable Foundation is now ready to accept donations, for which tax receipts will be issued.  The Foundation will rely on an independent committee of Fort McMurray stakeholders (including the Rotary clubs and the municipality) for advice on disbursal of the funds.

Donations may be from individuals or corporations.  Rotary clubs may wish to facilitate this process by collecting donations, and then forwarding either the individual cheques or a cheque drawn on the club’s account for the total amount, along with a list of the donors and their addresses and postal codes.

Please make cheques payable to:  "Rotary District 5370 Charitable Foundation" and forward to:

Committees for 2016-2017

At your May 2nd meeting, we presented a brief overview of each committee, the changes, what each committee consists of, and what might be expected in the upcoming Rotary Year.  We had great engagement and several have signed up and made their commitments for the year.  There are a few that were not at the meeting so we will have a sheets on each table.  If you anyone has questions in regards to a specific committee, feel free to ask myself, or reach out to the current committee chair via the Club Directory.  Ideally we would like to have everyone on a minimum of 3 committees by the end of May.
