Handivan Needs Volunteers
Every two years, our local Lloydminster Handivan Society signs up to work the Camrose Casino for a couple nights and in return the organization receives a fairly substantial donation to put towards a new van or infrastructure.

The organization is looking for volunteers to assist them on Tuesday May 24th and Wednesday May 25th with working the casino from 3pm until late (or whatever hours you are able to offer).  From previous conversations, it is very simple and light work.  There would be some compensation offered for fuel and accommodation if needed.

Please get in touch with Glenn Fagnon 780-214-6666 or Jason Whiting  780-870-1346 if you are able to provide some assistance.

Rotary Leadership Institute Training UPDATE

Please be advised that due to low enrollment, this training session has been canceled.  We will advise at a later date of another session.
Lakeland College Wellness Fair
Our Rotary Clubs will have a booth at the upcoming "Wellness Fair" (see below), put on by Lakeland College.  You could spare an hour or two on Tuesday March 15th, please let President Wayde know.

Lakeland College, Lloydminster Campus is hosting a “Wellness… It’s More Than Just Luck “ Wellness Fair on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 from 11am to 2 pm. This year, the fair will be put on for both Lakeland College students and the Lloydminster community. Exhibitor displays will be held in the gymnasium. Exhibitor displays are important because they provide an opportunity for our community to find out about programs, resources, and organizations in our local community that can help achieve wellness in many areas of life. The focus captures six key areas of wellness: Physical, Mental Health, Social (including volunteer opportunities), Financial, Educational/Occupational and Spiritual. Please note that this is a free event, therefore there is no charge to set up a display.

Member Photo Submitted Vol4
This week's photo is submitted AGAIN by ME, Jason Whiting (feel free to shoot me some photos).  I had a chance to check out the Calgary South Rotary club which meets on the Calgary Stampede Grounds in the Rotary House which is a beautiful old log cabin building.  The speaker that day was Greg Clark, MLA and leader of the Alberta Party.  The week before they had Brian Jean, and coming up was Brian Burke and Jay Ingram; very interesting line up of speakers.

Reminder, if you have a photo(s) that you would like to submit, please do so!

Call for Speakers / Topics
Do you know of someone with an interesting story, an interesting career, or maybe somebody that has been somewhere unique?

This year, I, Jason, your incoming president, want to look out into our Community and find some interesting speakers and topics; the more unique the better.  The one thing that I have seen during my short time with Rotary thus far, is that when it comes to speakers, we tend to hear quite a bit from local charities, philanthropic needs, and fundraising requests.  As a club, we certainly want to support as many charities as possible and we do very good at this, however, I also feel we need to diversify our speaker program.  I want to hear from the guys at Ribstone Creek about their brewery, I want to hear from somebody that is more into drones than I am, I want to hear about someone's unique hobby, I want to hear from Jim over at Rock Creek on how he decided to jump into that type of business.

These are just examples that I thought of while typing this little piece and I'm quite sure there are many other ideas out there.  If you have any, please share them with me and we will try and fit in as many as possible.
