Guest speaker today was Staff Sgt Dave Kalist of the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment who gave an overview of his years in the Police Force,  noting the different postings he and his family had before coming to Lloydminster.   Sgt Kalist stated that one of his first priorities here in the City was to get to know the Mayor and the community, along with this staff and colleagues.

Sgt Kalist stated that everyone is looking forward to the completion of the new Police station on Hwy 16 and hopefully, their relocation, by mid-summer of 2014.

A LITTLE OF THIS AND A LITTLE OF THAT

Rotarians bringing guests today were:  Rochelle Horne, Peter Parkinson and Dick Vokins.  Thank you for inviting your friends into the midst of Rotary Fellowship.

As this was the last Monday in the month the membership were treated to a ‘Birthday Cake’ in honor of all the Rotarians celebrating an August birthday. In addition to the cake, the members serenaded the birthday people with a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.   (There may be a slight exaggeration in this statement!!).

Sgt-at-Arms Greg Hilderman gathered some coins for the coffers by way of expanding people’s knowledge on facts about Labor Day. The members left with a wealth of knowledge in exchange for less money in their pockets.  Very few dollars were raised by way of ‘Happy Bucks’ so it was a sad affair today.   We did give Dave McCaw a break on his Happy Bucks due to the fact that he has been a member of the club for 50 years.  Congratulations Dave!

A reminder of ‘Billiards Night’ at the Sticks on Wednesday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m.  Come and join your fellow Rotarians for an evening of food, fun and fellowship.  The only pre-requisite is a $5.00 contribution by each person attending which will be allocated to the Rotary KIVA account.

There will be no meeting Monday, September 2nd - Labor Day.  Have a Happy Holiday with your family and friends.   Don’t work too hard.
